Snow Day

I know, it is Colorado, so I should learn to expect a blizzard at the end of March, right AFTER spring arrives. I am never ready though, and I am never impressed. On the contrary, the kids were thrilled!

You have to scroll through the pictures to catch Lizzie's thrill at a snowball fight where she was the only player. I love the expression on her face!

Field Trip

I FINALLY got to go on a field trip with Tori's preschool class! We went to the Forney Transportation Museum. The kids had a blast.

The Last Few Weeks

These are some of the events of the last few weeks.
A few weeks ago Tori started expressing her emotions in writing. One afternoon I came downstairs to post it notes ALL over the main floor with pictures and words trying to inform the general public that "Shimmer's birthday party is cancelled." Apparently her time out got in the way of the big shindig for her stuffed unicorn's big 5th bday.

A few days later I told her that she couldn't watch a movie, that she needed to do some homework, etc...a few minutes later I received this:

This is only one page of the two page letter. It says "No High School Musical 3 because Mommy does not love Tori." Gee...I love you too.

We had the Monsons over for dinner and games, and found the girls upstairs like this. In about 10 years, this will be the girls getting ready for dances. Scary!

During Stake Conference, there were some very important quotes. During the sustaining of stake officers, I had to stand, and Lizzie said "Mother, it is time for you to sit down NOW!"
Sophie: "Tom, what is this?"
Tom: "It's a bulldozer."
Sophie: "Jenn, its a poop lizard."
Lizzie: (with two fingers raised) "Mom, Lily is coloring with 3 markers, this many, FIVE!" Huh?

Owen loves plums. He got Lizzie's plum from Papa, and I didn't dare pry it out of his little fingers. He ate every last bite!

Poor baby!

In the interest of keeping an accurate record, and letting people know what is happening in our lives, I am including this post on the health of my little prince.

At Owen's one year check up he had plummeted to almost off the charts for his weight. To give some reference, he was pretty average when he was six months old, now he is in the 5th percentile. Needless to say, there was concern, both from the doctors as well as his parents.

After several attempts to take blood, they concluded that he was very borderline for Renal Tubular Acidosis (RTA). Apparently the acid/base imbalance in his blood inhibited the absorption of nutrients. The kid eats like a horse and never gains from it. The doctor called in a prescription, and if FINALLY arrived this week (thank you mail order drug company that I am NOT in love with!!). We received over 60 ounces of medication as his three month supply. He is supposed to take 2 teaspoons twice a day. It is a NIGHTMARE getting that much medication into a one year old. We tried it straight, in water, and finally in juice. He was not a fan of it in any form.
Long story short, the kid had...digestive issues as a result. We took him to the doctor today after he stained his onesie and pajamas with a nice pink tint. Definitely a cause for concern. Now he is off meds (anybody need approximately 60 ounces of RTA meds??) and onto a ridiculously high fat/high calorie diet. Life is rough, eh? Well, he gets yummy food, but Tom has been calling him "baboon butt" for the last day or two, so I guess you have to take the good with the bad. Anybody have any high fat/high calorie musts that I could try?

She's Official

Today we registered Tori for kindergarten. She is SO excited! She will be attending Summit Elementary in the fall, and she wants the world to know. (The button says "I'm a Summit Kid.")

Family Pictures

I am so happy to be able to post these. We had a great experience taking pictures (if you know my kids, you know how impossible a photo shoot is)! Thanks to Kim for the fabulous pictures! Prepare for major picture overload, and it was really hard for me to choose only these!

Fun in the Sun

Ok, so it isn't really spring, but it REALLY feels like it. We have already had so much fun this week enjoying the marvelous sunshine!

Monday was a trip to the museum followed by a picnic. I'm not sure which the kids enjoyed more--the time at the museum, or the million trips running up and down the hill in the sunshine.

Tuesday was family picture day. I can't WAIT to see and post those pictures! Then we went home to blow some bubbles before dinner.

Wednesday was sidewalk chalk/run around/bird poop in the hair day!
I just wish these 70 degree days would stay forever! I don't need the heat or the cold, but something so lovely in between!
