Pumpkins

We love to carve pumpkins. It kind of holds a special place in my heart (thanks to the diamond ring I found inside just over 7 years ago...) We made the mistake of stripping Tori down to a diaper for her first pumpkin carving experience a few years ago, and now she thinks that you are supposed to be almost naked when you carve pumpkins. She has such an amazing memory...she never lets us forget anything! Anyway--that sort of explains why they are both in their undies.

Step 1: Clean out the pumpkin--darn! No diamonds this year!

Step 2: Taste the pumpkin--just to see...

Tori and Owen liked it...Lizzie wasn't so sure! She liked the seeds though!

Step 3: Carve the pumpkin (carefully avoiding chopping off your finger--TORI!!)

Step 4: Display and enjoy!

So thoughtful

Ok, so yesterday I wasn't feeling well, so after church while Lizzie and Owen were napping I decided to lay down for a few minutes on the couch. I was freezing cold, so I threw a blanket over myself and shivered underneath it. Tori saw how cold I was, went and got me another blanket, then she realized how cold my head must have been...so she decided to help...

I know, I know, nice outfit, nice pose, nice picture. That's what happens when Mom is sick.

Thanks Tor, my head was definitely not cold anymore!

Happy Birthday Mama!

Ok, so its late, but I wanted to post about the kids getting to celebrate with Nana. They thought it was so cool that Nana wanted to go to the park for her birthday! Nana treated all of us to lunch (yes, it was her birthday, and her treat...that's Nana!) and we met at the park, let the kids run like wild, and the moms chatted with our mom. It was beautiful weather and we had such a good time. Happy birthday Nana, and thanks for lunch! We love you so much and we feel so blessed to be close enough to celebrate with you!!

The Fast

We have been trying to get our other house rented, and we have had a lot of people interested. After lots of showings and even several applicants, we have finally found renters. The best part?!? They are LDS, they will be in our ward, and they are hoping to buy it after renting for a couple of years! YAY! What a blessing. We had been fasting on Sunday to try to find a solution to our problems, and TA DA! Monday they went to see the house and decided that they wanted to live there! We knew that the Lord would hear our prayers and answer them, but we were surprised to have our prayers answered so quickly! What a huge blessing in our lives!

General Conference Sunday

Ok, so General Conference used to be a day to sleep in, have brunch, lounge around, etc. When you have kids, all of that changes, and General Conference Sunday becomes a day to attempt to be spiritually fed while little people whine, scream, annoy, and throw tantrums. YAY! Well, today we went to my parents house (praying for our kids to act somewhat civilized) and were pleasantly surprised. Owen slept through the first session, and Lizzie slept through the second. The best part of the day was the alone time that the kids had with Nana and Papa. They each took a turn holding Owen for quite a while and loving on him. Papa made "surprise plates" which he used to make for my sisters and I every Sunday. I can't believe that I didn't have my camera to catch it. Surprise plates were usually food made to look like a smiley face! SO CUTE! The girls absolutely loved it. Then Nana took Lizzie and Tori into the yard and blew bubbles for them. Owen LOVED watching them float in and out of view! (Once again, how could I NOT have my camera! ARGH!) Anyway--thanks so much Mom and Dad for making it a wonderful Sunday, and for taking the opportunity to make some very special memories with my little ones!
