Another haircut

Ok, well, I gave up. Lizzie is my rough and tumble kid. She loves to dive head first into things, get down and dirty, and just go crazy. Unfortunately, Mommy was still under the impression that she could do all these things with long golden locks. Apparently long golden locks on a rambunctious (and painfully accident prone) two year old just become long stringy strands of dirt/food magnets.

Boy were we missing Aunt Manda today!

The lady at LolliLocks did great though!

Liz loves it (probably because it means Mom won't bug her so much about it)!

Preschool

For the latest info on preschool, please visit my new blog at smarty-pants-preschool.blogspot.com
I will try to keep it up to date, and I will quit bugging the rest of you with the preschool stuff.

Cupboards

My one project for our new house has taken longer than I expected, and I have been living without cabinet doors for almost three weeks now. Apparently this is a sign that I really ought to finish my cabinet doors and get them back on.

While Tom and I were cleaning up dinner, Liz snuck into the cupboard...

And of course Tori had to follow.

Preschool

Ok, well, here goes nothing...
I have been a teacher (first grade and preschool) and have always wanted to go back to teaching. When we moved into this house, the opportunity presented itself. I have been considering starting my own preschool. Tom and I have been batting the idea around back and forth, working out pros and cons, figuring out all the logistics, etc. Anyway--I want to do it, and Tom wants me to do it. I have been waiting for some sign to really tell me "YES! YOU NEED TO DO THIS!" I guess that sign has come. Over the last 24 hours my "class" (that I wasn't sure I was doing) has become more than half full (I want a max of 8 kids in the class). I guess that means that Ms. Jenn better make up her mind, and make the official announcement. I thought that I would get all the red tape taken care of before I officially announced, but I guess there isn't time for that. Here you go: (I am holding my breath)
Ms. Jenn will be starting preschool in the fall of 2009! YAY! More info to come, but I thought I better put the info out there before I have a full class under the radar...crazy!

Favorites

Ok, so I completely forgot to take pictures of Tori's all about me poster, but we have had some new favorites lately, so that will have to do. Tori has been in love with blue for as long as I can remember. Recently she decided that her favorite color was pink--like her cousin Lily. Initially she said "Mom, pink is my favorite color, like Lily, but only when I am in the car. When I'm out of the car, my favorite color is still blue." We have since transitioned to full time pink favorite! (Hence the pinkalicious post.)

The new favorite that cracks me up is her new favorite book. She rarely leaves home without it, she sleeps with it, and it even went to church with us. What is this phenomenal book, you ask?

Yes, it is a field guide for bird watchers. It was from a class that Tom and I were both forced to take in college (I HATED it, he LOVED it...go figure). She always asks me to open it to the Tennessee Warbler page...what a weirdo.

That's my girl...or maybe that is Daddy's girl.

A taste if freedom

Well, we have called our new house "home" for just over a week now. I refuse to post pictures of the house because we are still a very long way from "moved in." I will post some pics though--eventually. The kids (and Mom too) are thoroughly enjoying the new back yard. Though we haven't done anything to it, and it is quite overgrown/out of control from being unoccupied for several months, they are LOVING being outside. In our old house here was not back door except through the garage. Needless to say, there was very little freedom because mom could not let them go outside by themselves. Anyway--here are some pics of the fun they have been having.

I catch them playing the funniest games, using the funniest voices, and saying the silliest things. I think that I am having as much fun watching them as they are having with their new realm. Too bad summer is almost gone.

Pinkalicious

Ok, so my girls LOVE the book Pinkalicious. For those of you that haven't read this book, it starts out on a rainy day, so they decide to make PINK cupcakes. My girls decided that since today was a rainy day, we should do the same. Thanks to Tori's new found passion for pink, we had to have pink batter, pink frosting, and pink sprinkles. She was so proud!

Lizzie loved them too...

Moving

Ok, so I am a slacker. We are moving, and I haven't blogged about it. I thought that I would post after we moved in and were settled, but I have been chastised, so I will blog now. I will post more pics soon, but I want to at least have some furniture in place before I do. For now, this will have to do. We move tomorrow, and although I have been PAINFULLY anxious to get out of our teeny tiny house, I am feeling a bit nostalgic at this point. I brought two babies home to this house. This was my first real "home" (no, Provo apartments do NOT count!!). It has served us extremely well, and there are a lot of wonderful memories here. Alas, our family has grown, and we are ready for some more space. So starting tomorrow, you can find us here:

Grandparents Day

Terrible pictures, but doesn't my mom look great?

Today was Grandparents' Day at preschool. Nana went to be with Tori, and apparently they had fun. I was asking Tori to tell me a little bit about what they did, and she told me that they asked Nana questions and they talked about stuff and then they sang songs.

Me: What songs did you sing?

Tori: We all picked a song to sing. Logan wanted to pick a train song to sing with his grandma, but he couldn't think of one.

Me: What song did you pick to sing with Nana?
Tori: "Fight and whine and cry."

**pause**

I quickly dialed my mom's cell phone--SURELY she didn't actually sing that song in preschool in front of other people. I am SURE that my mom would not do that! I was SURE wrong! Mom simply confirmed that Tori had indeed chosen the old family favorite to share and being the wonderful Nana that she is, she went along with it. Lovely--I will wait for her teacher to call now...

For those of you that are not aware of this little number, let me clue you in. My dad used to sing this to us when we were young and we were misbehaving. The lyrics are:

"Fight and whine and cry

fight and whine and cry

acting like a BRAT

throw yourself upon the floor

and make your face go SPLAT"

Yeah--nice...

First day of school

Yesterday was Tori's first day of school. Yes, it is still preschool, but don't tell her that! She is in love with school, learning, friends, and all that comes with being a "big girl."

What an adorable class!

Labor Day

As is tradition, we spent our morning at the Taste of Colorado! The kids lucked out this year and got free wristbands that gave them admission to the rides. The kids were super excited. Unfortunately, my kids are teeny, so they couldn't ride most of the rides, but there were a few that they could get on to (well, technically only a couple for Liz, but life is hard when you're little).

Marlee and Tori had SO much fun on this ride! The were laughing so hard!

Lizzie couldn't even get in the "fun house" by herself--so Mommy got to run through it... several times.

Thanks Ang and Ali for taking my girls on the swings!

Daddy and Owen had fun too!

All eleven grandbabies!

It is actually about the food, but let's face it, we ate the food, we didn't take pictures of it. It was really good though! Until next year...I will dream of my Saag Paneer and Basmati Rice....
