Well, they say that you can plant your garden on Mother's Day weekend, but that definitely wouldn't have worked this year. We are hoping that waiting an extra week made a difference. We tilled and planted yesterday and it was a great day. We look forward to planting our garden every year. This year Tori has been super excited to get going. She told Daddy that she needed a "gardening hat" before we could plant. Daddy said he would get her one, but he didn't realize that not just any hat would do. Needless to say, Tori is her mother's daughter and is super stubborn. There would be no planting without Daddy's promise being fulfilled. We made an emergency run to Target. On the way there I asked her:
"What does a gardening hat look like?"
Tori: "Kinda like a hat, and sometimes it has flowers on it and sometimes it doesn't."
Mom:"What color is a gardening hat?"
Tori:"It can be lots of different colors."
Mom:"Don't we have a hat you could use for gardening at home?"
Tori:"NO MOM! I need a GARDENING hat!"
Great--I have no idea what I am looking for, and she does, but she can't give me any kind of description. We went to Target's kid gardening tools section and they had exactly ONE hat.
Mom:"Tor, is this a gardening hat?"
Tori:"YES! That is just the hat I have always wanted!!"
I don't know who put the idea in her head, but I am glad that we filled the need, because we had a great time planting, and we are super excited to watch our cucumbers, peas, carrots, pumpkins, etc come up in the upcoming weeks (if we don't move first).
